Course Overview:
Master a systematic, efficient approach to abdominal ultrasound using the SDEP® (Sonographic Diagnostic Efficiency Protocol®) 17-point progression. This lecture walks you step-by-step through a complete abdominal scan, helping you build consistency, reduce missed pathology, and improve diagnostic confidence. Learn how SDEP® utilizes a 3-second cine loop approach within a 17-point protocol to produce a comprehensive abdominal scan, from the deep pelvic urethra to the diaphragm and everything in between.
 
Through a standardized, repeatable scanning sequence, learners will identify and access conditions including shunts, bile duct obstruction, renal and bladder pathology, gastrointestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, masses, peritonitis, mucocele, ascites, and pericardial effusion. Built-in redundancy of image angles ensures multiple views of every organ and organ system while minimizing the potential for missed lesions. Each scan point is clearly numbered for easy reference, reinforcing communication between instructor, sonographer, and specialist.
