Designed for veterinarians and veterinary technicians needing a practical, clinically focused approach to evaluating the gastrointestinal tract using ultrasound and recognizing sonographic patterns associated with gastrointestinal disease and obstruction.

2 RACE-approved CE credits
2 x self-paced video webinars plus post-course CE quiz
Approximate Study Time: 2 hours
Course Overview:
Develop a stronger understanding of gastrointestinal ultrasound by learning how normal anatomy, function, and disease processes appear from a sonographic perspective. This course reviews gastrointestinal structure, motility, and relationships with surrounding organ systems to help clinicians recognize when findings deviate from normal.
Through practical case examples and pathology discussions, participants will explore common gastrointestinal abnormalities, including obstruction patterns, pyloric disease, and other sonographic presentations that impact clinical decision-making.
The course emphasizes pattern recognition and diagnostic efficiency, helping clinicians understand how changes in gastrointestinal wall structure, layering, motility, and surrounding anatomy can guide differentials and next steps in patient management. A curvilinear approach to interpretation is introduced to improve recognition of abnormal inflammatory, obstructive, and disease-associated patterns.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, you will know how to
- Understand normal gastrointestinal anatomy, structure, and sonographic appearance•
- Recognize normal gastrointestinal motility and activity patterns
- Identify deviations from normal gastrointestinal structure and function on ultrasound
- Recognize common sonographic patterns associated with gastrointestinal disease
- Understand gastrointestinal obstruction patterns and their sonographic appearance
- Evaluate pyloric abnormalities and obstructive disease processes
- Apply a curvilinear approach to interpreting gastrointestinal ultrasound findings
- Improve diagnostic efficiency by integrating sonographic findings with clinical presentation
